The Beginner Kite Intro is where kitesurfing actually starts — with the kite, not the board. Over three hours you learn to read the spot and the wind, set up and pre-flight your equipment, and steer the kite through the window with control rather than luck. You will trigger the safety systems yourself, on land, until releasing the kite is automatic.

By the end of the session you can launch, fly, land and pack down a kite, and you understand why each step happens in that order. That foundation is what makes Level 2 fast — students who skip it spend their water time relearning it.

Who this is for

None. You must be comfortable in shallow water and able to swim.

Safety

Every session starts with a spot and weather briefing. You are taught the safety systems before the kite leaves the ground, and you practise releasing them on land before you use them on the water. Instructors stay within reach during water sessions, radios and a rescue boat cover the riding area, and sessions are shortened or moved if the wind becomes unsuitable. Helmets and impact protection are provided and worn during all lessons.

Meeting point

Kite Dates ECC centre, El Ahia Street, Hurghada — or your hotel lobby if you are using the free transfer.

Questions about this course

Do I need any experience to start?
No. Level 1 assumes you have never touched a kite. You need to be comfortable in shallow water and able to swim — that is all. The minimum age is 8.
Will I ride a board in this course?
No, and that is deliberate. Level 1 is entirely about controlling the kite. Board work starts in the Level 2 & 3 course, once kite control is automatic. Trying to combine both usually slows people down.
What happens if there is no wind on my day?
We reschedule the session for the next slot with usable wind during your stay, at no extra cost. If your departure date makes that impossible, unused hours are refunded.

What students say

  • Setzels

Really nice spot, good for everybody, from beginner to pro because of the conditions there — steady wind, not crowded. The instructors are very friendly and teach really well. After kiting you sit around with the crew, drink coffee or good tea and talk about your practice and what you can do better the next day. Pick-up service from the hotel was the best, and for free, and always on time. If the wind is not good you don’t go out, so you don’t pay for bad conditions — that’s great. I definitely recommend it. The kite rental was also very good, nice equipment.
