About this spot

Abu Mungar (also written Abu Moungar) is a low sand island north of Hurghada, surrounded by shallow, clear water. It is one of the closer island spots to town and a regular anchorage on kite trips heading into the Strait of Gubal.

The appeal is space. There is room to ride long runs without meeting anyone, water shallow enough to walk in, and enough variation around the island to find flat sections in most wind directions.
