About this spot

Safaga sits roughly 55 kilometres south of Hurghada in a bay that is well known for wind. The geography funnels the prevailing northerly, and it tends to blow harder here than it does in town on the same day.

The water is more open than Hurghada’s shelf — deeper, with more swell and chop — which makes it a spot for riders who already handle themselves rather than a teaching beach. It has a long-standing reputation among windsurfers for the same reason.
